Ron Dupres, PGA Coach

Staff Instructor

What is your golf background?

Like many of us in the golf industry, I was introduced to golf by a family member. In my case, it was my grandfather when I was in elementary school. The time spent with him at the local driving range are some of my favorite memories growing up. After two separate careers, Navy and teaching high school, I entered the PGA to follow my passion and achieved my Class “A” PGA Professional Certification. I served as Head Golf Professional at two different courses in California before deciding to get back to what I got into the golf industry to do initially, TEACH! I am ADM(American Developmental Model) certified and a PGA Hope Certified Instructor, a therapeutic adaptive golf program that is geared towards veterans with disabilities. And as a lifelong learner, I am currently enrolled in the PGA Coach training program.

What is your teaching style?

The game of golf is seen as a difficult sport, and it is. But when you break it down, the objective is to get the ball in the hole in the least number of strokes. HOF golfer Walter Hagen once said, “Now what you have to understand is that three bad shots and one good shot still make par.” With this in mind, my teaching style is a results-based method that teaches the student how to score on the course. My coaching focus is to prioritize what aspect(s) of their game that is keeping the student from shooting the scores they desire. And remember, a one-foot putt has the same value as a 300-yard drive – 1 stroke! And as you begin shooting better scores, we will work on other aspects of your game that will drive your scores even lower.
