Kim was born and raised in Southern California. She was introduced to the game of golf at the age 10 by her dad. She instantly fell in love with the game, took serious golf lessons and participated in multiple local junior golf programs. She played on her high school varsity team for Woodrow Wilson High School, then earned a full scholarship to play Division 1 Golf at the University of California, Irvine. In 2008, Kim won the individual Big West Conference Championship. After she graduated, she worked as a golf instructor for the LA County Junior Golf Program while getting ready for LPGA Qualifying school. She advanced to the Second Stage and earned Epson tour status (formerly known as Symetra Tour). However she decided to pursue an opportunity with Srixon Cleveland Golf and later was offered a position at PING Golf where she continues to work full-time.
In January 2021, Kim decided to enter into the PGA Teaching and Coaching program and has progressed to Level 3 in the program. Aside from working full-time at PING and completing the PGA program, she gives golf lessons to all ages and skill levels.
