What is your golf background?
I started caddying in 1964 at Connersville Country Club in 1964 and have been hooked on golf ever since. I had success as both a high school and college player, and had the opportunity to compete in three U.S Publinks Championships. In 1974 I turned professional and began playing in the PGA section and teaching. I spent time as a professional in New Jersey and Long Island. I eventually returned to Arizona and have been teaching at Encanto Golf Course for the last 30 years. During my time back in Arizona I have won the section Match Play Championship and was also awarded the prestigious Player of the Year Award. In 1995 I was honored with the PGA Southwest Section Junior Leader of the year award. I have also had the opportunity to play in four PGA Tour events. I look forward to using my experience as both a player and teacher to help you improve your game.
What is your teaching style?
Basically I teach a simple swing motion built on sound fundamentals of grip and setup. I put an emphasis on a free arm swing and a good plane and correct contact. I try to work with each student on the improve their natural swing and assist them with achieving their goals. I have taught over 40,000 lessons and this has made it possible for me to effectively evaluate students swing problems in a very short time.
