What is your golf background?
I started playing this amazing game called golf when I was 14, in Enschede, The Netherlands. After falling in love with the game and practicing 3-4 times a week, I got the hang of it and I started trying to figure out why and how the trajectory of a certain golf shot was caused/created. I moved to South Africa when I was 19 and lived and played golf there for 10 years before moving to Baltusrol GC in Springfield, NJ. After an amazing and learningful 6 years, we moved to Gilbert, AZ to pursue my career as a golf instructor even further and I attended and graduated from the Golf Academy of America in 2018. While attending the Golf Academy, I was the Lead Instructor at Topgolf, and soon moved up to being The Director of Instruction. I enjoy teaching golfers from beginners to experts and both junior and adult golf fans, I teach the junior clinics as well every Saturday morning at Bear Creek GC. This beautiful game is definitely a game for life!
What is your teaching style?
For me, and for my students, I find it important that we know what causes a certain ball flight or outcome of a golf swing, if we don't know what causes a certain outcome, how are we going to fix it? Make it better? Every golfer should "swing their swing" but, if we are looking to improve, we need to know exactly what we'd like to improve and we should understand how we can improve that certain aspect in our swing. Always practice with a purpose!
